Charities, Churches, and Nonprofits

Charities, Churches, and Nonprofits

An array of charities, churches, and nonprofits in our communities provide resources and services to those experiencing homelessness and in transition. Following are some of these churches and charities.

In addition to community resources for veterans experiencing homelessness or in transition, various organizations that cater to veterans can be found in most cities.

In addition to the camaraderie of being around other veterans, many of these organizations such as Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) also serve as Veteran Service Offices for filing of claims, providing funeral services, and organizing community events.

As homelessness and drug - addiction continues to rise, veterans are nearly 40% more apt to be homeless than our non-veteran counterparts.

  • Wounded Warriors Project

    Wounded Warrior Project

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) began in 2003 as a small, grassroots effort providing simple care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of the first wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As their post-service needs evolved, so have our programs and services. Today, through our direct programs in mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, along with our advocacy efforts, we improve the lives of millions of warriors and their families.
