Kolden McKeehan & PJ

Kolden McKeehan and PJ

While at Borden I had the privilege to meet a bona fide badass Marine and Purple Heart recipient, now military retired K9, “PJ” and his long-time handler, Sgt. Kolden McKeehan, also a Purple Heart recipient.

Both were injured in a 2014 blast in Afghanistan. In addition to his Purple Heart, PJ also is accredited with two ‘takedowns’ of militants similar as would be seen with a police K9. As expected, he ‘behaves’ like any other professionally trained K9 would. PJ is a white German Shepherd who served 14 months in Afghanistan for which the American taxpayer paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for his military training and care, evident of his age at 16 years and still going strong. His diet is a simple raw meat diet.
